Dr. Bhavesh Patel, D.O., practicing in San Diego since 2007, is an internal medicine physician with a life-long passion in medical fitness and wellness. He graduated from Baylor University for undergraduate studies and subsequently received his master's degree in biomedical sciences from Barry University. Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and later served active duty in the U.S. Army where he also completed his medical residency. While in the military he was a flight surgeon and practiced internal medicine caring for a large group of adult patients with a variety of chronic medical illnesses.
Dr. Bhavesh Patel D.O. is a board certified internal medicine physician with well over 20 years of experience in internal medicine/primary care and hospital medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies at Baylor University he graduated from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his medical residency at Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Patel served in the U.S. Army before honorable discharge as a Major in 2007. He has taken care of thousands of active duty military as well as retired military during his career. Dr. Patel has well over 100,000 patient evaluations over the past two decades. After the military he has been practicing in San Diego, CA and has managed a myriad of patients with chronic medical conditions giving them the best quality of life possible.
In addition to being a skilled diagnostician, Dr. Patel has a personal passion for physical fitness and exercise nutrition and utilizes that to try and help his patients incorporate a sustainable wellness lifestyle plan in order to prevent and manage medical conditions, as well as to slow the aging process. In addition to helping patients with weight management, one of his major goals is to help patients intercept any impending medical conditions early, utilizing advanced diagnostic testing modalities, before a medical problem or its complications occur. Dr. Patel believes that it is paramount to develop a personal doctor-patient relationship based on trust without worrying about restraints of time when giving medical care. In the care of many of his patients, Dr. Patel works closely with other medical sub-specialists to include surgeons, cardiologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, and neurologists to name a few. Dr. Patel's hobbies include fitness training and you'll find him frequently at the gym or on hikes with his golden retriever.
Dr. Patel has a strong interest in the science of exercise, nutrition, and weight-loss. He has been practicing internal medicine since 2003 and has seen first-hand the devastation of chronic disease. As a physician and health coach he really believes that appropriate consistent medically driven exercise and nutrition programs and coaching like Rx2BFIT combined with behavior and lifestyle changes can prevent, cure, and or better manage many chronic diseases and reduce subsequent complications. He is currently certified in exercise nutrition and is well connected with a team of health and fitness experts as a member of the IDEA Health and Fitness Association. Dr. Patel's goal for each person is to help create a personalized /customized prescription to be fit based on a client's medical conditions, physical restrictions, and personal goals by integrating proper nutrition, exercise, and behavior change. He adheres to the basic fundamentals of osteopathic medicine and has an open mind to alternative approaches to care.
